Job Description
DUTIES: Newly created position responsible for managing the circulation and interlibrary loan departments; general reference desk duties 10 hours/week including nights and weekends; bibliographic instruction, collection development and liaison with selected academic departments; participation in library policy formulation; university and professional service; research and creative work. Reports to Head of User Services.

REQUIRED: ALA-accredited MLS; 3 years post-MLS library experience in one or more areas of access services; hands-on expertise with an integrated library system; supervisory experience; flexibility in adapting to change; ability to work independently; customer service orientation; initiative, creativity and excellent oral and written communication skills; and commitment to the librarianship, research, and service requirements of a tenure-track position.
DESIRABLE: Experience with Innovative Interfaces library system; OCLC Illiad; reference, collection development and library instruction experience.
The Community
The Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado was established in 1965. The student population is approximately 7650. Most students are commuters, but campus housing is available for about 900 students. Doctoral degrees are offered in engineering, geropsychology, educational leadership and nursing practice. The campus also has graduate programs in business, public administration, and a variety of arts and science areas.
Colorado Springs, located at the foot of Pikes Peak, has a population of approximately 500,000, with tourism, high technology, manufacturing, sports and the military ranking as the key industries within the community. Located 70 miles south of Denver, Colorado Springs offers a wide variety of leisure and educational activities including sports, parks, symphony, local theater groups, museums and several institutions of higher education.
