Job Description
This full-time SCBOCES contract position serves the staff and offenders in two Colorado Department of Corrections facility libraries - one minimum-security and one medium/close-security. The individual selected to fill this position will have an outstanding opportunity to make a difference as a librarian and impact patrons' lives. 85% of the offenders use the BVCC libraries. Under the direction of a Regional Librarian, supervise the daily operation of a busy library providing public/school-type (not law) library service to adult male offenders and DOC personnel. The duties include: provide reference and information services; provide readers' advisory services; hire, train, and supervise offender library assistants; perform library computer functions using the automated library management system (date entry, circulation, catalog maintenance, and printed reports); monitor the behavior of offender patrons.
Additional Info & Requirements
Two (2) years of college course work from an accredited college or university including twelve (12) semester hours of library science course work may substitute for the two (2) years of the general library experience.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with the following qualifications: strong service orientation; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; flexibility; and strong computer skills in a Windows environment and with MS Office Professional.

Must be at least 21 years of age. Must successfully complete the DOC Basic Training Academy. Application process includes a urinalysis and background investigation for clearance to work in a correctional facility. No correctional knowledge or experience is required.
