The Rhinelander District Library (RDL) is seeking a full-time library director. The candidate must have an MLS from an ALA-accredited program and must be energetic, personable, and community oriented. The RDL is also beginning a capital fundraising campaign for a much needed expansion. Any applicant must be willing and able to assist the Board of Trustees in this major endeavor.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing budgets, administering financial resources, writing grants, and developing new revenue opportunities.
- Proficiency in computer technology and software. Knowledge of web-site design and familiarity with the Sierra/Innovative integrated library system would be a plus.
- In-depth understanding of current and developing library technologies
- Organizational and personnel management experience, especially involving team building and motivational skills.
- A commitment to professional development for staff as well as self.
- Excellent communication skills
- A positive attitude, enthusiasm, a sense of humor and an interest in community involvement
The City of Rhinelander is located in the scenic north woods of Wisconsin, an area containing the fourth highest concentration of lakes in the world. Besides the year-round resident population, a thriving tourist industry attracts families throughout the summer many of whom use the library. In addition, Rhinelander is the Oneida County seat and home to Nicolet Area Technical College and St. Mary’s Hospital. Primary industries are manufacturing, logging, tourism, sales, and public service.
