The HistoryMakers seeks applications for a Records Manager/FileMaker Pro database specialist. The HistoryMakers, a national (501 ) ( c) (3) not for profit video oral history archive headquartered in Chicago, Illinois (http://www.thehistorymakers.com). This organization is experiencing tremendous growth and seeks to move to the next stage. The Records Manager/FileMaker Pro Database specialist will be responsible for the maintenance and growth of five FileMaker Pro databases; digital and paper records associated with The HistoryMakers oral history interviews and events; the security and preservation of digital video files on LTO drives and other servers; and maintenance and growth of all records associated with The HistoryMakers interviews, events and office procedures.
The records manager will:
- Work with five FileMaker Pro databases built for various aspects of the organization;
- Handle the flow of data for interviews, events and assets in FileMaker Pro;
- Organize, digitize and preserve all records for interviews and events;
- Perform audits and quality control over all video assets added to the collections;
- Work on continued development, maintenance, and administration of FileMaker Pro databases;
- Review and improve records management systems as they pertain to digital records, database records, paper records and digital video files;
- Manage and proofread the data entry of other employees;
- Ensure that all datasets are being properly recorded and standardized and clean data when necessary;
- Produce reports and create new reports when necessary;
- Research new software and technology for use by research and administrative staff;
- Work in partnership with staff on an ongoing basis to improve and maintain existing functionality in databases and workflows;
- Work with Drupal-based website to ensure that all appropriate data is being uploaded.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in information technology, library science with a concentration in archival management, or other related field. In addition the ideal candidate will have extensive experience with data flow operations and records management.

The HistoryMakers is a growing and dynamic 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating an unprecedented national video oral history archival institution recording the stories of both well-known and unsung African American HistoryMakers.
