The SEFLIN (Southeast Florida Library Information Network) Board seeks a forward thinking, action oriented leader as the next Executive Director. This innovative visionary will continue SEFLIN’s pursuit of “…being a world class, dynamic library cooperative, guiding collaborative services of value to Southeast Florida libraries and their communities.”
The ideal candidate is a creative strategist who will promote the mission of the organization and provide leadership to the staff and its library members. SEFLIN, a non-profit multi-type library cooperative comprised of nearly 40 Southeast Florida libraries, is dedicated to sharing resources and supporting cooperation between its member libraries. Located in Boca Raton, FL, it is one of five multi-type library cooperatives in Florida. SEFLIN offers continuing education—including two major annual conferences—resource sharing, library advocacy tools, consulting services, vendor discounts, and more to member libraries. Governed by a thirteen member Board, SEFLIN has a staff of 4FTE and an annual budget of $811,650. Funding sources include LSTA grants, state aid and membership fees.
Responsibilities: SEFLIN’s Executive Director must be a visionary leader capable of creative and innovative thought with demonstrated experience with strategic planning in a non-profit library or other public organization. The Executive Director must demonstrate success in working with a governing board, especially in developing an annual budget linked to Board policies and priorities. The Executive Director provides leadership to the membership and staff of SEFLIN, and specifically promotes SEFLIN’s mission within the region and the state; leads regional strategic planning and implementation for innovative cooperative services; advises, recommends, and formulates policies with the SEFLIN Board; obtains and administers State, Federal and other grant funding for activities to further SEFLIN’s mission; and advocates for SEFLIN and the interests of SEFLIN members. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Master of Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program, 5-7 years of experience including 3 years of library or project management, and demonstrated success in securing and managing grant funding. Preferred qualifications include mid-level or upper-level management experience in a multi-type library network or consortium; a degree or experience in communications, marketing, advocacy or community engagement; and a successful track record working with and reporting to a governing Board. Demonstrated experience in budget and resource management and strategic planning experience are highly desirable.
