Rank and Salary: This is a non tenure track position. Salary is $36,000.
Job description:
The Digital Collections and Government Documents Librarian (Librarian) will have an important role in a team-oriented environment to develop and manage the Library's digital and government documents collections under the direction of the Director of Forsyth Library. The candidate should be self-motivated, service-oriented, and interested in applying information technology to library services. This position includes some night and weekend shifts.
Digital Collection Responsibilities:
• Work with technical staff, librarians, the university community and local/regional entities in the identification of materials to be transferred to digital media
• Coordinate workflow for digitizing and cataloging digital collections
• Catalog and assign metadata to digital materials
• Identify external funding sources and participate in grant writing
• Apply current digital library community benchmarks, best practices, and standards where appropriate
• Consult with campus legal office on copyright, licensing and rights management issues related to digital collections
• Provide copyright, intellectual property and rights management consultation for faculty
• Consult with faculty and other producers of digital media for the creation of a digital libraries and digital repositories
• Identify digital information trends/planning for the future
Government Documents Collection Responsibilities
• Administer and promote use of the collection
• Coordinate and resolve problems related to the classification, processing and cataloging of state, national and international government documents and Marcive files
• Promote use of the collection through Library Instruction, reference work, and by publicizing documents that support the FHSU curriculum
• Maintain online access to documents through the library's website and online catalog
• Serve as the Government Documents bibliographer and Library Liaison to one or more academic departments
• Support the teaching, learning and research needs of Fort Hays State University faculty and students through reference and instruction in both digital collections and government documents
• Prepare reports required by the Federal Depository Library Program
• Keep abreast of current policies and issues affecting the Depository, libraries, GPO and the LPS Program

Preferred: Experience or coursework in government documents management and instruction. Demonstrated aptitude for and interest in project planning and management, technical services, electronic resource management, or related areas. Experience in using bibliographic utilities, such as OCLC; integrated Library systems, particularly the Ex Libris Voyager system; content management systems such as CONTENTdm, and metadata protocols.
