Job Description

The Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) seeks an energetic Branch Manager committed to excellent customer service to manage the Lynden Library, the system’s busiest branch, along with the Sumas Public Library, a smaller branch located in the neighboring community. The Branch Manager directs all branch operations including staff supervision; assists patrons by providing reference and reader's advisory services and community referrals; performs community outreach; promotes core Library values, and performs other related duties. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and five or more years’ recent, progressively responsible, and professional public library experience serving all ages. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of motivating and developing staff and building community collaborations. You have strong supervisory skills with a demonstrated ability to create a positive work environment for staff with varying degrees of experience and responsibilities, and evidence of ability to build a cohesive team. Requires the ability to speak, understand, and write English clearly and concisely. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, five or more years’ recent, progressively responsible, and professional public library experience serving all ages. Master’s degree in Library Science preferred. Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. New employees are subject to a CRC (criminal records check) per RCW 43.43.832.

Primary work location at the Lynden Library, 216 4th Street, Lynden, WA, with some weekly hours at the Sumas Public Library, located at 451 2nd Street, Sumas, WA.
