Job Description

Fort Worth, Texas, the City of Cowboys and Culture, is home to more than 812,000 residents and the county seat of Tarrant County. It is the 16th largest city in the US and the fifth largest city in Texas. Recognized as one of the fastest growing areas of the country in 2011, Fort Worth was voted one of America’s Most Livable Communities in 2010 and was named by the National Civic League as an All-American City for the third time in 2011.

The library system includes the downtown Central Library, which maintains municipal archives and local history collections and is a popular destination for cultural programs, concerts, exhibitions, and workshops, two Regional libraries, 11 Neighborhood Branch libraries, and two Satellite Branches in public housing communities. The library circulates over three million items each year, provides public computer access to almost 300,000 users, and has a system-wide customer satisfaction rating of 90%. The Fort Worth Library has 230 staff and a $16.3 million annual budget.

The Senior Librarian is a management level position, requiring strong leadership skills. The Senior Librarian reports to the Regional Librarian Supervisor and is responsible for supervising the operations of the branch and leading a team of library assistants, clerks, and pages. Duties include marketing, collection development, statistics, reference services, and project management.

This position requires a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited college or university with major course work in library and information science and at least two years of increasingly responsible library experience. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Preference may be given to applicants who can speak, write, and understand Spanish.

The salary range for this position is $48,781 - $63,416 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
