Distance Education:
Collaborate with librarians and faculty on the development and maintenance of innovative web-based services (aggregator and discovery databases) and their integration into instruction through the campus learning management system (Blackboard) and other instructional platforms.
Electronic Services:
Provide expertise in the development, maintenance and troubleshooting of library electronic resources with the goal of providing excellent student access.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Distance Education Librarian
- Support student learning across disciplines by working with faculty to facilitate the use of curriculum-specific information resources in coordination with the Instruction and Outreach Librarian.
- Provide access to course-specific online and print materials.
- Develop and deliver learning objects, and promotes use of curriculum-based information resources, including the development of online tutorials and LibGuides in coordination with the Instruction and Outreach Librarian.
- Promote public awareness and use of electronic resources.
- Provide face-to-face instruction to the Education Center in South Liberty County, McNair Center, areas high schools and the Weekend College.
Electronic Resources
- Work with various vendors and set up database trials, as selected by the librarians.
- Negotiate licensing agreements with vendors.
- Responsible for the acquisition, management and troubleshooting of electronic resources, the proxy server, EBSCO Discovery Service and the externally hosted server.
- Manage the content of the library website in coordination with the campus webmaster.
- Provide digitization and ILS assistance to the Circulation Coordinator in the procurement and digitization of electronic reserve items.
Reference & Instruction
- Provide reference desk coverage for 10 to 15 hours per week or as needed.
Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Instruction and Outreach Librarian in providing on campus instruction, including some evening and weekend.
- Collection development.
- Liaise with faculty in assigned divisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Although the schedule is subject to change as the college determines the needs of the students, below is the schedule for the position:
Monday: 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Tuesday – Thursday: 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Saturday: Two or three times each semester from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Occasional weekend instruction also required to support the Weekend College.
Some travel to education sites off-campus may be required.

Required:
- Familiarity with concepts and goals of information literacy
- Experience creating instructional and information materials such as online tutorials and guides
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technology tools and skills, to conduct training for users and staff and strong desire to share this knowledge with others
- Understanding of web accessibility issues
- Experience using web development applications such as Dreamweaver and Camtasia
- Experience with learning management systems
- Must be able to travel to education sites off-campus
- Must be available to work evening and weekend hours when needed
Preferred:
- Experience working in an academic library preferred
- Experience with electronic resources preferred
- Experience working with php and Javascript preferred
