Seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and service-oriented professional to join the Adult Services staff at the new 21st Century Library. You will work closely with our patrons, answering questions, assisting with searches, promoting library services and implementing programs for Adults. This exempt, full-time position will work as part of a collaborative team committed to achieving the mission of the Pikes Peak Library District: to seek, engage and transform lives through library services and resources that enrich individual lives and build community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works on the public service desks 15-18 hours per week providing reference service to walk-ins, over the phone, via email and instant messaging
- Assists and instructs patrons through material and on-line searches, computer software
- Provides readers’ advisory services
- Maintains confidentiality in all patron and staff interactions
- Promotes library services through tours, demonstrations, talks, and displays
- Uses computers and assists patrons with computers and printers
- Serves as the “Librarian in charge” in the absence of the Adult/Teen Services Supervisor
- Will teach computer classes for the public
- Plans and implements adult programs
- Performs duties in collaboration with the Creative Computer Commons librarians as needed.
- Must have flexibility to meet the needs of Library 21c and its services
- Performs other related duties as assigned
POSITION HOURS: 40 hours per week:
Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Every third Saturday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (with the previous Monday off)
Total of 9 Sundays a year 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (flexing 4 hours during previous week)
Note: Regular schedule may be subject to minor changes due to required meetings, training events, etc. Also, management may require modifications to a position’s schedule, days, times and locations at any time as the needs of the Library District change.
