
The Mountain View Job Lab provides a place for people to develop the skills needed to enter the job market, take advantage of promotional opportunities, and move into new career fields. Participants of the Mountain View Job Lab are given opportunities to learn and practice their language, digital, and job seeking skills.
The Job Readiness VISTA will be responsible for recruiting, training and managing a core of adult volunteers to implement and sustain a mentor-ship and education program for teens at the Mountain View Library.
They will build relationships with community partners, seek potential funding sources through grant writing, and develop the Mountain View Library into a dynamic learning center for adults and teens seeking language, computer and job search skills as well as personal enrichment.
This is an Americorps VISTA position. The service term is July 31, 2017 to August 4, 2018.
Benefits include: Monthly living allowance ($1,333), relocation costs ($0.34/mile up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550), health benefits, child care assistance, training, and an Education Award ($5,815) or cash stipend ($1,500).
The Mountain View Branch Library is located in Anchorage, Alaska. Anchorage is Alaska's largest, and most urban, city. The Anchorage Public Library serves a population of 300,000 people, speaking ninety different languages.
Anchorage is rated as one of the “greenest” cities in the US. Great parks and forests, LOTS of winter sports, wildlife out your backdoor, fishing, boating, kayak opportunities, to say nothing of the moose that wander the streets.
The neighborhood served by Mountain View Branch Library has been designated the most diverse census area in the United States.
