Job Description
Responsibilities: The Auraria Library at the University of Colorado Denver has an immediate opening for a full-time Library Technician II in the Reserves/Audio-Video Media Services Department. This position is responsible for processing and quality control of reserve materials and for providing direct customer service to patrons by answering inquiries, advising users of the library on policies and procedures, and retrieving Reserve materials in person by working at the Reserves Service Desk. Specific duties include processing faculty orders for new materials; pre-processing incoming reserve materials by classifying, assigning call numbers, bar coding and labeling items for reserves; creating files electronically through the use of a scanner; receiving, logging, and processing incoming materials; utilizing Millennium Circulation software, Docutek and Anzio to process reserve materials, create files and course pages; performing searches for books, music and audio visual materials; assisting with administrative functions which include contacting faculty regarding reserve issues, tracking individual and departmental statistics, and completing word processing assignments; checking materials in and out using Millennium; instructing and assisting patrons with the use of media equipment; shelving, removing and returning old and new items; double checking data entry of Reserve materials; tracking, reserving and checking out video/film/DVD library collections; conducting inventory of film and videotapes; reconciling overdue fines and replacement fees; and completing special projects when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving and maintaining library materials. SUBSTITUTION: One year of college course work including six semester hours of library science course work may be substituted for the general library experience. Conditions of Employment: *Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends. *Must be willing and able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. *Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including bending, stooping, pushing, and kneeling up to 6 hours per day. *Must be willing and able to push carts weighing up to 50 pounds. *Must be willing and able to occasionally adjust your schedule in order to meet the staffing needs of the department. Preferred Qualifications: *Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds which also includes experience working with staff, patrons, faculty, and students in a higher education environment. *Experience and working knowledge of reserving library materials and utilizing library search tools which includes the ability to search and retrieve information from electronic databases and computer systems. *Minimum of at least one year of experience working in Reserves department of a library. *Experience utilizing Millennium Circulation software, Docutek and Anzio. *Usage and knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel) which also includes updating and maintaining electronic databases. *Experience that demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and work independently with minimal supervision. *The successful candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated, and a fast learner and will have strong organizational, written and communication skills.
