Job Description

The North Platte Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, creative leader to manage the Young Adult department. See the full job description at www.ci.north-platte.ne.us/employment

We are looking for an individual who is energetic; self-motivated; possesses a positive attitude; works collaboratively and independently; is tech savvy; comfortable working in a changing environment; can communicate well both in writing and verbal; and truly loves working with teens and young adults (ages 12-25).

The Library is adding a permanent makerspace in the summer of 2018 and hope that the young adult librarian will take a leadership role in the development of this new endeavor.

Additional Info & Requirements

Experience working with teens and young adults in some capacity is preferred.

The Community

North Platte Nebraska is a great place to live, work, and raise a family in the heart of the United States. If you like a medium sized community, wide open spaces, a place with a home-town feel, yet still close to a large metro area for a weekend get-away, then our community is just the place for you!

North Platte is located 225 miles east of Denver Colorado and 225 west of Lincoln, Nebraska and has a population of 24,736.

The North Platte Public Library has a total budget of $1.2 million dollars and a staff of 18.

The Young Adult department currently offers Teen Cafe (a weekly hour-long program for teens); Lunch Bunch (outreach program into the middle schools during the school year); and a Summer Reading Program for teens.

We are hoping to find a great individual to keep this programming going, as well as incorporate makerspace activities into the programming and collaborate with the Mid-Plains Community College Student Success Center to keep teens through young professionals using the public library.
