The Technical Services Coordinator supports the work of the library through preparing newly
acquired materials for circulation, filling interlibrary loan requests, and providing patron service
throughout the course of the day. The Technical Services Coordinator works closely with the
Schewe Library team in order to provide timely, responsive, and patron-driven library services.
Essential Functions
The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position.

is similar, related, or a logical extension of position responsibilities. Daily needs and special
projects may cause the weighting of any particular job duty to fluctuate for shorter or longer
periods of time, but over the course of an academic year, the work being done will reflect the
below weightings:
Materials Processing (40%)
- Tracks, processes, and prepares new library items for circulation (including monographs, periodicals, and audio/visual material)
- Reviews and updates the online public access catalog (OPAC) and integrated library system (ILS) with information pertaining to the above.
- Processes the library's daily mail.
- Ensures the most current copies of periodicals are displayed for patron use.
- In partnership with library staff, withdraws deselected library materials from the stacks and from the library's OPAC and ILS (chiefly through the OCLC/WorldShare platform).
- Repairs damaged items as needed.
- Maintains records and statistics related to materials processing.
- [Possibly] supervises 1-2 students to help with materials processing functions.
Interlibrary Loan (40%)
- Orders the library’s interlibrary loan transactions, typically done through the OCLC/
- WorldShare platform.
- Processes incoming and outgoing I-SHARE manifests when the Access Services Manager is unavailable to perform these duties.
- Cross-trains library staff on interlibrary loan procedures.
- Maintains records and statistics related to interlibrary loan transactions.
Patron Service & Miscellanea (20%)
- Assists patrons at the Circulation Desk and throughout the library.
- Provides technical and generalized help to patrons.
- Assists with shelving materials.
- Assists with supply ordering.
- Attends meetings, training, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Library Technical Assistant (LTA) certificate or post-secondary diploma; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- One year of part-time or full-time library experience; more than one year of part-time or full-time academic library experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and to organize work involving conflicting demands.
- Ability to complete work accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner, with minimal supervision.
- Service-oriented attitude with the ability to maintain effective relationships with college staff and library patrons.
- Intercultural competency and the ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
