In general, this position will: • Provide reference, referral, research and reader's advisory assistance to patrons in person and on the telephone. • Review, evaluate and recommend materials for purchase and withdrawal from the collection with special emphasis on the management of young adult materials. • Initiate and develop ongoing programming for all age groups with a primary emphasis on young adult programming. • Conduct tours, plan public events and displays. • Work with community agencies that focus on young adults to present programs and other services outside of the library. • Participate in staff meetings, committee and other meetings and task forces, including serving as a member of the Young Adult Round Table. • Supervise daily room operations and be responsible for the general appearance and safety of the young adult area. This position reports to the Head of Information Services. Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and minor holidays. The successful candidate will have familiarity with Web 2.0 and social networking concepts and uses in library settings. Several Jefferson County open space areas and mountain parks are in or near Evergreen with opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking.
