Job Description
The University of Colorado at Boulder Libraries seeks an energetic and motivated librarian to participate in the building, assessment, and management of the Libraries’ collection with particular emphasis on electronic resources. This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Faculty Director for Collection Development. Working in collaboration with colleagues, bibliographers, and relevant committees, this position identifies and analyzes collection metrics to broadly inform collection management and purchase decisions. This position also facilitates the licensing, management, evaluation, and promotion of the Libraries’ growing collection of electronic resources and open access content. In addition, this position participates in special projects and scholarly communication initiatives. The successful candidate may also assume bibliographer duties in an area of the candidate’s expertise. Significant parts of the responsibilities of this position are research and creative work and service in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY: The successful candidate with demonstrated accomplishments in research and creative work will be appointed as a full-time assistant professor on tenure track. A successful candidate with promise in research but lacking an established scholarly record will be appointed as a senior instructor (non-tenure track) for two years, with promotion to the tenure track and the rank of assistant professor upon a successful review. Starting salary range will be $42,000 to $47,000. Benefits include 22 working days vacation, 10 paid holidays, liberal sick leave, University group health care plan, group life insurance, TIAA/CREF retirement/annuity, and support for scholarly/professional activities. Tenured librarians are eligible for sabbatical leave.REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school; minimum one year’s experience working with an electronic resources management module such as Innovative Interfaces’ ERM product; experience collecting and acquiring electronic resources; demonstrated experience with collection assessment tools and practices; evidence of strong Web and computer applications skills; strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; potential for research and scholarly/professional achievement. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with vendors and publishers; demonstrated familiarity with openURL linking syntax; demonstrated interest in and understanding of the management of networked information resources in libraries; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative service environment; experience or familiarity with scholarly communication and institutional repositories; knowledge of the University of Colorado collections and electronic resources.
