Job Description
Essential Duties: Facilitates use of TLC - the library's integrated system, supervises Technical Services team and operations including the Computer Commons, and provides superior customer service by performing the following duties: • Participates in Library Management Team to develop policies and services, resolve problems, and conduct strategic planning related to electronic efficiencies. • Oversees personnel in Technical Services Team including Collection Development, Local History Archive and Technology Specialist librarians. Systematically reviews personnel and resources to accomplish Strategic goals and team objectives. Provides ongoing assessment and coaching and performs formal evaluations for team members. • Delivers superior work products and services to customers within work schedule that includes evening and weekend hours during 2-3 desk shifts per week. • Evaluates existing Integrated Library System (ILS) and recommends future improvements; Creates print and online documentation related to use of ILS; Coordinates and assists in installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic information sources used in support of the ILS; Participates in design and development of custom applications in library databases. • Acts as bridge between technical and non-technical staff and provides training in use of the ILS. • Chairs Library Technology committee; Updates Technology Plan; Applies for and implements training and technology grants including e-Rate; Identifies, evaluates, and recommends new technologies to meet library automation needs; Acts as liaison to vendors. • Participates in community and professional activities. • Manages special projects. • Works under general supervision of the Library Director.
