Job Description
The Director will perform administrative and professional library work in planning, organizing and directing the library program. Working with the Senior Management Team, the Director is responsible for:
*Leading, developing and managing a dedicated and creative staff
*Acting as policy advisor to the City Manager, Deputy City Managers, City Council, the Library Commission, Arts Commission
*Setting bold performance goals and providing strong leadership by anticipating and responding to the rapid changes in public libraries.
*Overseeing and administering the department budget
*Developing and maintaining strong collaborative partnerships in the community.
*Building community support for the library.
The Community
Boulder is surrounded by an extensive greenbelt of city trails, open space and mountain parks. The town is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, reastaurants, technological and academic resources and for its great library. The main branch of the Boulder library is located on Boulder Creek, just blocks from the vital Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall and within walking distance of the spectacular foothills. There are two neighborhood branches and a local history branch. The city’s 100,000 residents support many arts and cultural events, Boulder’s municipal services, such as recreation, transportation
