Job Description
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, primarily responsibilities include, handling and processing inter-library loan requests from students and faculty. This includes tracking inter-library loan statistics and monitoring requests. Also, responsible for copyediting electronic documents (research guides) received and updated by contracted librarians. Then will replace and update research guides using html and an e-global administrative function. In addition, this position will assist the Head Librarian with quality maintenance issues, including verification and correction of site links. Also, will help the librarian supports the information needs of JIU’s students, faculty, chairs, instructional designers, administration, and other staff in their respective roles. The duties will include keep usage and other types of statistics on file. Also includes other duties as assigned by the Head Librarian.
Formal Education Required and/or Equivalent Experience:
• Earned bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Experience with quality customer service.
Materials & Equipment Used & Frequency:
• Experience in use of technology/computers, online databases.
• Some library experience. (Preferred)
• Understanding of web and database technologies.
• Basic Html – Daily
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, etc.) – Daily
• Word processing – Daily
• Email and telephone communications –Daily
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
• Office environment
• Regular and consistent attendance required.
Technical/ Task Statements:
1. Help maintain the accuracy of information on the e-global library® website.
2. Help serve inter-library loan and other special needs of JIU students.
3. Tracks and Processes Interlibrary Loan Requests using World Cat Resource Sharing and other interlibrary loan services.
4. Purchase articles and books from third party vendors
5. Researches article citations using Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) and other databases for interlibrary loan purposes
6. Keep general statistics related to the library-database and reference usage.
7. Update research guides using e-global library asset manager
8. Copyedit webpages in e-global library
9. Filing, photocopying and special projects as assigned
10. Other Duties as assigned by the Head Librarian
