Job Description
Regis University seeks a part-time Reference Librarian (.65 fte) to join a service-oriented team on its Lowell Blvd. campus in Dayton Memorial Library.
Responsibilities include reference desk service, occasional library instruction, and collection development for one department. This librarian will work Wednesday through Saturday, including Thursday 1 to 10 p.m.
The Reference Librarian will provide reference and information services to library users in the building, and at distant locations by phone or e-mail by effectively utilizing print and electronic resources; this will involve some work assignments at night and on weekends.
This person will provide occasional library orientations or library instruction; assist with collection development in a selected area; provide oversight of the library during duty hours, as necessary; will make local level decisions involving the Reference area, proper conduct within that area, and calls involving malfunctioning hardware, connectivity, or software; assist with collection development in select subjects, to include selecting materials following established collection development practice; and perform other duties as assigned.
This individual will use good individual judgment to provide reference service within the scope of existing library policy and standard best professional practice.

Vacation and other leave time are pro-rated.The successful candidate must have a M.L.S. degree, preferably from an ALA-accredited school and one year of experience as a professional librarian. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. He or she must have a very good understanding of print and online reference sources likely to be used in an academic library. Training opportunities will be provided.
