Job Description
Role: Selects materials and coordinates collection development activities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
50% MATERIALS SELECTION – Identifies materials for purchase, creates selection lists, responds to customer and staff requests for materials; generates reports and statistical data in order to select materials for the collection.
25% COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT – Responsible for selection of materials as part of a centralized collection development by evaluating and analyzing various collection areas, works collaboratively with Librarians and other public services staff, and develops the collection in accordance with the goals of the collection development policy in order to provide a collection that meets the community’s needs.
10% BUDGET – Responsible for monitoring assigned budget expenditures on an ongoing basis and within set guidelines.
10% COLLECTION WEEDING – Coordinates weeding projects and provides training and support in the use of weeding procedures.
5% OTHER DUTIES – Assists Manager with departmental projects to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Participates in meetings and activities on a system-wide basis.

The Community
The Weld Library District is seeking a Collection Librarian with a passion for working with adult non-fiction materials. This position will be in the Collection Resources Department and will work closely with library staff members, collection development and acquisitions staff to develop the adult non-fiction print collection (Non-Fiction, Reference, Business, Non-Profit, Genealogy, and other special collections). This 20-hour benefited position requires an MLS/MLIS and experience working with patrons in a public library.
