We are looking for a versatile, customer focused Collection Development Librarian who will: • Work with children's and young adult staff members in the evaluation of the collection to identify gaps, make recommendations for weeding, and develop efficient and effective procedures for more efficiently maintaining the children’s and young adult floating collections. • Evaluate current holdings against collection development and weeding guidelines and current publishing trends to establish the most effective collection possible. • Make system-wide buying decisions and coordinate requests for the purchase of print and non-print materials for all age groups. • Work closely with ordering staff to insure that materials are ordered in a timely fashion. • Work with staff to assure ongoing weeding occurs. • Utilize circulation data to make informed buying decisions. • Maintain records for budgeted funds related to the acquisition of all materials in specific selection areas. This position reports the Head of Acquisitions and Collection Development. Jefferson County Public Library is seeking an innovative Collection Development Librarian who is passionate about connecting people with literature and information. Working closely with library staff members, collection development and acquisitions staff the successful candidate will select materials for all age groups: approximately 50% of the time will be spent on selection and maintenance of the adult collection and 50% of the time on young adult and children selection and weeding.The successful candidate will have at least one year of experience selecting materials in a public library system setting, with experience or knowledge in children's and young adult literature preferred. Experience in using vendor databases such as Title Source-3 or I-Page; and experience using an ILS module such as Innovative Interfaces. Some experience in budgets and accounting desirable.
