Job Description
Librarians needed for temporary project listing, categorizing and packing the 9,000-volume scholarly library in American History of Dr. Patrick T. Conley, Historian Laureate of Rhode Island for accession by Newport’s historic Redwood Library. A MLS is essential as are cataloging and computer skills. Work in an elegant setting with convenient parking, and flexible hours at $20.00 per hour. Some knowledge of American History is desirable.
Qualifications:
- MLS from an ALA-accredited institution, with education and/or experience in science librarianship.
- Some experience indexing American History monographs preferred.
- Knowledge and work experience using classification schema(s), including Library of Congress, SuDocs and/or Dewey, and experience with MARC 21 standard. Additionally, knowledge of RDA core elements, and OCLC system.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
