Job Description
Position will provide general library operations in cooperation with the assigned regional librarian and facility programs manager. Position provides supervision to offender library aides and responds to requests for information by conducting reference interviews, locating information, and executing searches.
Provide instruction and guidance on the use of inter-library loans; screen requests for appropriateness; loan procedures; and, searches incoming books for content and contraband. Provide library service to offenders in segregation/diagnostic units who cannot visit the library. Will promote self discipline/self motivation for the offender population in order to provide the skills necessary to reintegrate into society and to contribute to the safety and security of the facility through effective offender management.
