Job Description
Sort, shelve, and shift library materials as assigned. Regularly empty book drops and reshelve in-house circulation. Retrieve paged items from shelves. Ensure library materials are maintained in a neat, orderly fashion according to established standards. Pick up and straighten library areas to maintain neat appearance. Provide answers to general directional questions from customers. Refer informational questions to service desk. Record statistics at appropriate service counters. Assist staff members in moving supplies or equipment as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Light physical work requiring ability to lift 30 pounds; frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds; regular standing and walking; some pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing; hand/eye coordination for operation of a computer system and office equipment; vision to interpret information and process books; frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.
Work Environment: Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment.
Equipment Used: Book carts. May use standard office equipment including a computer system, audio, video, and media equipment.
HR Info
Experience: Some clerical experience in a customer service environment; library experience helpful. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Knowledge: Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System or rudimentary numbering system; operation of a computer system optional. Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and citizens; perform basic mathematical calculations; available to work days, nights, and weekend shifts. Spanish language a plus.
